6-2 The Pythagorean Theorem

CCSS:  8.G.6

Critical Background Knowledge- Students should know properties about triangles  square roots and how to solve equations.  

Content Objective: I can understand that in a right triangle a^2\:+\:b^{2\:}=\:c^2a2+b2=c2.    I can use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve for a missing side of a right triangle given the other two sides.  I can understand an explain a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem.

Language Objective: I can define legs and hypotenuse.  

Essential Question: How can I use geometry to respond to the challenges in life?
